Review Summary:

At the end of the day, The Saucony Ride 9 is a decent running shoe, which will be able to satisfy the mass majority of runners. It does have a few minor cons, but I wouldn’t refer to these as deal breakers. In fact, the Ride 9 possess enough good characteristics to make them well worth the investment. They’re solidly constructed, very durable, and surprisingly comfortable.

Having been around the block more than several times, I have grown very familiar with Saucony. The company has grown rapidly in popularity and is quickly gaining a reputation for delivering high-quality, long-lasting running shoes. Many of the company’s shoes are great, but I was recently attracted to the Saucony Ride 9 Running Shoe. To date, the shoe has proven to be a soldier and has withstood every bit of stress I’ve thrown its way. It remains comfortable and maintains its cushioning. Still, it isn’t entirely perfect. Want to know about its pros and cons? Continue reading below.

Stability And Support

When initially looking at the shoe, you’ll find that it has a very thick heel and counter. This isn’t a coincidence and it helps to add stability and support to the wearer. The outsole and upper sole are both made from high-quality rubber, which is tough but flexible. This combination allows the wearer to remain comfortable, while also having the support needed to get a good spring with each step. The shoe’s vamp is another key component of its support system. Once you’ve slapped the Saucony Ride 9 onto your feet, you’ll feel like you’re wearing a glove.

The vamp can be tightened securely, without overdoing it. This provides the entirety of the foot with the support runners will desire.

Feel And Fit

To truly experience the comfort of the Ride 9, you would need to wear the shoes yourself. However, I can tell you that the shoe has proven to be comfortable throughout the duration. Even after several months of use, the shoe has managed to maintain its cushioning. The shoe features SRC landing zone absorbers, which help to absorb the brunt of the force. The feature also allows the wearer to transition fluidly from stride to stride. The Ride 9 features the EVERUN Topsole cushioning system, which is exclusive to Saucony.

This aspect of the RIDE provides the wearer with improved energy return, while cushioning all key areas of the runner’s foot from the beginning to the very end of the running session. The shoe also incorporates Saucony’s innovative Flex Film system, which provides optimum fit, without increasing the shoe’s overall weight. And finally, the TRI-FLEX outsole is incredible and really gives the runner the ability to spring forward into action, with maximum flexibility.

Weight

Some running shoes are simply too heavy for their own good. A heavy running shoe isn’t a good running shoe, since it’ll wear you down and put extra stress on your limbs. The Saucony Ride 9 isn’t bad in this category. It utilizes iBR+ blown rubber, which is approximately 33% lighter than the stand blown rubber. However, this also provides the runner with additional cushioning. All in all, the shoe wears just 9.3 ounces, which again, isn’t bad at all. Although most runners will be completely satisfied with the weight of the Ride 9, there are much lighter shoes out there.

For instance, the Asics Gel-Kinsei 6 is a much lighter alternative. Still, during my time with the shoe, I barely noticed the difference and most others won’t either. This feature is a bit of a tossup. While the shoe does deliver added cushioning, it comes with a tad bit heavier weight. This could be very impactful, during marathons and lengthy running sessions, but again it didn’t bother me during my hour run.

Performance

When it boils down to it, performance is everything. If the shoe is unable to satisfy during a full on spring, it shouldn’t be worn as a running shoe. The good news is that the Saucony Ride 9 delivers a worthwhile performance. The shoes feature a handful of characteristics, which provide the runner with support, stability, comfort, and a worthwhile performance. The outsole features the TRI-FLEX technology, which allows the runner to maintain in control throughout the duration of their sprint. The shoe gives you the ability to push off of the ground and sprint with greater velocity.

The shoes also feature SRC landing zones, which absorbs the impact and gives your feet additional support and cushioning. Whether you’re jogging, running or sprinting at full pace, your shoes will provide you with a good performance and will keep your comfortable until your very last step. And finally, the shoe features XT-900 carbon rubber on the outsole. This delivers impressive traction. Whether you’re running on concrete or out in the rain, the shoes will never slip and slide. They maintain a firm grip to the ground.

Saucony Ride 9 Overall Assessment

At the end of the day, The Saucony Ride 9 is a decent running shoe, which will be able to satisfy the mass majority of runners. It does have a few minor cons, but I wouldn’t refer to these as deal breakers. In fact, the Ride 9 possess enough good characteristics to make them well worth the investment. They’re solidly constructed, very durable, and surprisingly comfortable. Just remember that you’ll need to get the precise size or the comfort level will decrease substantially. As long as you’re able to do that, you’ll enjoy your time with the Saucony Ride 9 running shoes! As always, I highly recommend that you check the customer reviews on Amazon HERE.
